On June 20th at 6:00pm the newly renovated WMU Soccer Complex will open its doors to the Michigan Bucks.  The Michigan Bucks are an  American soccer team based in Pontiac, Michigan. Founded in 1995, the team plays in the USL Premier Development League (PDL), the fourth  tier of the American Soccer Pyramid, in the Great Lakes Division of the Central Conference. They are the current PDL National Champions and  will play Chicago Fire U23s at Western Michigan University as part of the Kalamazoo Invitational Soccer Showcase (KISS).
We spoke to Dan Duggan, the Bucks owner who informed us that, “The Michigan Bucks began 20 years ago and played their very first game in  Kalamazoo, so it is an honor to return to this great soccer hotbed to celebrate two decades of the highest level of soccer in Michigan”.  He went  on to state that, “the Bucks feature several Western Michigan University players again this season and we hope to make this an annual  appearance at the KISS tournament to demonstrate what the future has to offer for aspiring young players from all parts of Michigan”.

One of these players that Dan speaks of is WMU Bronco’s captain Nick Wysong.  We had a chance to catch up with Nick, “I am very excited to have the opportunity to be a part of the headline match for the KISS Showcase playing Chicago Fire”. During the college off season Nick plays in the summer months for the Bucks, so coming home to play for the Bucks is particularly exciting as he went on to say, “this is a great opportunity for both clubs to showcase their skills in front of youth soccer players that one day will be playing in the same environment as us in the near future.  It’s a great opportunity to introduce the youth to their possible soccer future”.  Growing up playing in the area Nick has a special connection with KISS too, “KISS is a special tournament to me, growing up as a kid playing under the Kalamazoo Kingdom I can remember playing in this tournament and winning it multiple times. The KISS Showcase has grown immensely since my days and it says a lot about the soccer community and the greater Kalamazoo area to host one of the best tournaments in Michigan”.
The KISS SKISShowcase was founded in 1990 and has grown in size and stature to become one of the most respected showcase events in the country. Hosted by Midwest United – Kalamazoo, over 130 teams will attend from across the Region and Canada. Competition is very diverse with many of the teams attending from outside Michigan, generally hosting teams from 10 different states and provinces. The college exposure in the event is fantastic. 200+ college coaches from 27 different states have attended KISS in previous years. For more info on the KISS showcase and to track scores goto
